Cart Witnessing On Their Wedding Day

this photo is doing the rounds on jw inspirational on instagram.

although the brothers and sisters think this is "oh so amazing" and "so cool" it's actually very sad and quite shocking.

what, people cant even enjoy their wedding day without the cult invading their special day.

I'm guessing they were having their photos taken in the park just adjacent to where this cart was and some uber JW (probably the brides Mother) though it would be cute to get a shot by the literature cart to show all her friends.

The Bride looks as if she's only putting up with it to avoid making a scene and he looks like a bit of a schlub who's hoping the whole thing is over before one of his mates from work sees him.

I remember being at a wedding one Saturday where the Presiding Overseer ran after the bride and groom and flagged them down as they were driving away to leave for their honeymoon. A bunch of us were standing nearby and heard him tell them that there was going to be a really good talk Sunday and he thought it would be a good idea for them to attend. The bride hooted with laughter rolled up her window in his face and the pair of them drove off.

It was classic !

Homeless guy begs with the Watchtower

after that crazy story about the bride and groom going out in service in their wedding attire, that reminded me of a scene yesterday in one of the subway stations, a disheveled homeless guy had one hand out begging for some money, "does anyone have some spare change to help me " he kept saying, in his other hand was a copy of the magazine.

so what must've happened was some dub passed him by and instead of giving him a quarter gave him a copy of the latest publication.

although some of the beggars use their money for alcoholic beverage anyway instead of food i'm sure that magazine will be put to good use when he feels the need to take a squat somewhere and needs some paper.

They actually feel that it is better to give this man bible literature so he becomes a JW, shaves, get's new clothes and suddenly his life is on the right track. To be honest I do not see this as bad. I think it is better to teach this man how to live so he can benefit himself. But at the same time the JW would never help a poor man out. Their money is for the WTBTS only!

I would agree that in some cases, any form of structure to live by (even the JW's) is a step in the right direction to get someone back on the right track. In the case of the individual I was commenting on, it was pretty clear that his issues were more problematic than what a bath, a shave and a watchtower article could resolve. He was obviously in need of medication and long term mental care from highly trained professionals whom by the way, the good folks at the Watchtower, view as being part of Satan's WICKED organization.

My Son told me that yesterday in downtown Seattle, he heard someone maniacally shouting what he immediately recognized as "JW" terms. He looked around only to see an insane homeless man sitting on the sidewalk reading out loud from a Watchtower. He figured he got it off of one of the literature carts from a JW who was anxious to shoo him away.

" IN VIEW OF THE FOREGOING, IT WOULD BEHOVE ALL THINKING PERSONS TO TAKE HEED OF THE WARNINGS SET FORTH IN THE SCRIPTURES TO RETURN TO JEHOVAH BEFORE THE GREAT DAY OF GOD THE ALMIGHTY ARRIVES UPON THEM AS A THEIF IN THE NIGHT !!! "

Craziest thing you ever did during intermission at a Circuit Assembly

1970 - there was a local drag strip a few miles away from the hall rented for the circuit assembly.

i was 18 , tim o. was 16 and wayne d. was 18. wayne had a 1955 chevy 4 door, 6 cylinder and fresh paint job.

tim had his dad'ss 1965 chevy half ton.

I can't recall doing anything crazy during intermission other than volunteering to do clean up of the Assembly Hall Cafeteria while wearing a suit and tie.

That same assembly hall had upholstered bench seats along the back wall of the lobby. I remember walking in late to the Assembly and having to walk through the lobby past those benches a group of well dressed heavy-set young black sisters. As I passed, they were looking at me as if they'd eat me alive. One of them fanned herself, looked me up and down and in a deep throaty way, uttered an approved Mm Mm MMM !

After being baptized, my Mom rushed my 17 year old sister, to a hair salon to have her re-done. I thought that was a bit much.

two ironys here... first of all the title "keep in expectation as jehovahs day draws near" - (this talk is from 2006!!

) i suppose 11 years isnt near enough.

second is that geoffrey jackson, of all people, is giving a talk that goes on and on about liars and how jehovah never lies.

Jackson's talk was given in 2006 but since then (as shown below) there's been new light, as to the meaning of the term "Draws Near".

Why not write it in proper English and say "Do Not Give Up".
The abbreviation "Don't" is slovenly, poor English . That will be picked up by anyone over 40 in the U K
Standards are falling all around, in that organisation .

Petula Clark is British and her fans are all over the age of 40 and that song is at least 50 years old I'm guessing. Standards started slipping a long time ago apparently...in the UK.

Besides that, Do Not Sleep in the Subway Darling, just doesn't have a nice ring to it.

To say this ant was created this way, is also saying the Jehovah intentionally created the scorching desert even though we were taught that the earth was cursed with harsh conditions as a punishment for Adam and Eve's sins.

Genisis 3:14 "Then the LORD God said to the serpent: Because you have done this, you are cursed more than any livestock and more than any wild animal. You will move on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life."

As a kid, when I'd question inconsistencies in the literature similar to this one example of the Saharan ant, the scripture shown above was always sited as a means to show me that God may have altered living creatures after he was done with creation. This scripture shows that serpents at one time must have had legs and feet, or some other way to move about, but because Satan inhabited the body of one serpent while tempting Adam and Eve , God cursed and then altered things so that all serpents hence forth crawl upon it's belly instead of using whatever means of mobility they had originally. (as if Satan's crime was the serpent's fault)

It was obvious to me even as a kid, that people were looking for any reason to continue with the magical thinking they were taught as children or came to understand when they were at a weak and vulnerable point in their lives and needed something to cling to.

Hello and and introduction to Virtue Signaling

hi all - perhaps a brief intro from me would be appropriate..... i hail from essex, england.

a 2nd generation witness never knowing any other life and from a large and mostly devout family.

i was disfellowshipped in 1993 aged 21 and the worldly girl i met, got pregnant and married (in that order) is mother to my 3 grown children and grandmother to our beautiful baby granddaughter.

I suppose one could say the JW version of this is when they haul some local family on the platform at the assembly and the family talks about how lively and fun their family study is. All the kids chime in and talk about how they can't wait for family study night and they all try to have some interesting point prepared to discuss.

Every kid in the audience is rolling their eyes or gagging on their own bile and most of the parents are wondering why getting their kids to sit down for the family study,is such a knock down drag out fight. The rest of the audience has tuned the whole thing out or has come to the conclusion that everyone else is more spiritual than they are and there's no point even trying anymore.

I remember there was this 20 something girl named "Laura" in our hall that constantly tried to impress everyone about how "spiritual" she was. A bunch of us were walking out the door after the Watchtower study and she piously announced to all who could hear "That was such a good article....I'm going to study it again when I get home !". One of the more outspoken sisters said under her breath but loud enough for everyone to hear " Shut up Laura...you friggin' weirdo!" Everyone within earshot started openly snickering...it was an awesome moment LOL!
